Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is a leading specialty retailer in North America, offering an unparalleled selection of products for creative pursuits including arts and crafts, framing, floral and home décor, and seasonal merchandise. Founded in 1973 and based in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, alongside a robust online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Renowned for fueling creativity and celebration, Michaels is the go-to destination for craft enthusiasts and hobbyists of all ages, from children to seasoned artists. The company prioritizes fostering an inclusive workplace culture where team members can thrive and grow, offering comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts, reinforcing its commitment to employee wellbeing. As an equal opportunity employer, Michaels embraces diversity and provides reasonable accommodations to support all team members' success.
The Event Coordinator role at Michaels in La-Rancho Cucamonga, CA, offers a dynamic opportunity to blend creativity with customer service excellence in a retail environment. The coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes within the store setting. This role is integral to creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere that encourages creativity and fun for guests of all ages, from toddlers to older adults.
As an Event Coordinator, you will design and manage multiple events simultaneously, ensuring each is executed smoothly and to the highest standards. You will engage directly with clients and guests, demonstrating craft projects, organizing party activities such as face painting, and managing party add-ons like balloons and goody bags. Communication is key, as you'll coordinate with both clients and other store team members while managing administrative duties including emails, phone calls, and paperwork. Adaptability is essential to accommodate client feedback and needs, and you will develop backup plans to ensure successful event outcomes.
Beyond event management, your role extends to delivering exceptional customer service by assisting customers in shopping, offering product solutions, and providing a seamless checkout experience. You will also support operational store tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining planogram standards, and participating in safety and loss prevention programs. The role embraces a customer-first approach, including educating guests about rewards programs and credit card benefits, and assisting with omnichannel processes like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
This position requires someone with an energetic and enthusiastic personality, excellent communication skills, and experience working with children and events. You must be adept at handling job stress and maintaining positive, respectful interactions with customers and coworkers alike. Physical endurance is important, as the role involves standing for long periods, lifting heavy boxes, and navigating the retail environment, including some outdoor work when necessary.
The role offers competitive pay in the range of $16.90 to $19.70 per hour, and benefits for both full-time and part-time employees, including health insurance and paid time off. This is a chance to build a rewarding career in a supportive and creative environment, working for a company dedicated to making crafting accessible and enjoyable to all. If you have a passion for events, customer service, and creative engagement, Michaels invites you to join their team and help bring joy to customers every day.
