Job Description
The Michaels Companies, Inc. is the leading creative arts and crafts retailer in North America with over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, including an extensive online presence via Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established a strong reputation as the premier destination for all crafting and artistic projects, serving millions of customers each year. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, reinforcing Michaels' commitment to supplying a vast array of products and services to fulfill diverse creative needs.
As a full-time Store Team Member at Michaels in Oglethorpe, GA, you will play a vital role in maintaining our brand promise by delivering exceptional customer experiences and creating memorable events that bring joy and creativity to our community. This dynamic role involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, designed to offer a fun, stress-free, and engaging atmosphere for guests of all ages. You will serve as the go-to person for event coordination while also assisting customers in locating products, providing expert advice, and ensuring efficient checkout service.
The position emphasizes multi-tasking between operational duties and customer service. Operational responsibilities include unloading merchandise trucks, stocking shelves, adhering to planogram standards, and maintaining store recovery and cleanliness. The role also includes supporting the shrink and safety programs, participating in Omni channel processes (Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store), and cross-training in custom framing sales and production. Your daily interactions with customers will focus on promoting the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, enrolling customers, and educating them on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey to continuously improve service.
Michaels seeks candidates with an energetic, enthusiastic personality capable of managing job stress while engaging warmly with guests aged 4 to 94 and beyond. Experience working with children and coordinating children’s events is highly valued. Strong communication skills—including written, verbal, and listening abilities—are essential, alongside organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills. This full-time opportunity provides a fulfilling work environment where creativity and customer service converge to fuel the joy of crafting and celebration.
By joining Michaels, you not only become part of a renowned arts-and-crafts brand but also benefit from a supportive workplace culture that prioritizes team member wellbeing. Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, generous employee discounts, and more. The company is committed to equal opportunity employment and inclusivity, providing reasonable accommodations as needed to ensure all team members can perform their roles successfully. This role requires the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and early mornings, in a retail environment that is mostly climate controlled with some outdoor and specialized work areas.
