This role is based at the Michaels store in Round Rock, TX, and focuses on providing an exceptional customer and event experience. The position centers around planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events, including children’s birthday parties and various craft-based classes, to create memorable, stress-free, and fun experiences for guests of all ages. The event coordinator will serve as the primary contact who interacts warmly with clients and guests, demonstrating crafts, organizing party activities like face painting, and ensuring all event details such as goody bags and decorations meet company standards.
In addition to event planning, this role encompasses delivering friendly and knowledgeable customer service by assisting guests in finding products, providing solutions, and managing efficient checkout experiences. Candidates will contribute to operational store tasks including merchandise stocking, truck unloading, and maintaining store presentation standards, all supporting the brand’s promises of quality and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, experience in retail or customer service, and a passion for working with children and families. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to remain standing for long periods
- ability to move throughout the store
- capability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly
- ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders or similar equipment
- compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements
- willingness to work nights, weekends, and early mornings in a retail environment
- ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
- engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
- demonstrate and instruct craft projects and perform face painting
- facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons
- communicate event details with clients and store team members
- complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
- adjust event plans based on client feedback
- create backup or emergency plans
- ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards
- assist customers with shopping needs and product location
- provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- promote Rewards program and credit card enrollments
- educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
- assist with Omni channel processes including BOPIS and Ship From Store
- participate in truck unloading, stocking, and maintaining planograms
- perform merchandise recovery and store maintenance
- support shrink and safety programs
- adhere to SOPs and company policies for compliance
- interact respectfully with customers and team members
- cross-train in custom framing selling and production
- participate in daily store cleanliness activities
