This role as an Event Coordinator at the Port-Beaverton/Evergreen, OR Michaels store focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating interactive and engaging events including children's birthday parties, craft classes, and other creative gatherings within the store. The aim is to create a fun, stress-free, and memorable experience for customers while upholding the company’s brand promises of excellence in customer service and operational standards. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, engaging with customers spanning a broad age range to foster an atmosphere of creativity and celebration. Duties extend beyond event management to include providing exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, conducting transactions efficiently, and promoting the benefits of Michaels' rewards and credit card programs. Operational responsibilities such as handling merchandise duties, truck unloading, maintenance of store recovery standards, and adherence to safety protocols are integral to the position. Communication plays a crucial role in this role, involving coordination with clients and team members, managing administrative tasks like emails and phone calls, and responding dynamically to client feedback to tailor event experiences. Physical demands include standing for prolonged periods, handling store merchandise, and occasionally working outdoors or in varied store environments. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • engage with clients by creating a fun and creative environment
  • demonstrate and instruct craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • facilitate party add-ons including goody bags and balloons
  • communicate effectively with clients and store team members
  • complete administrative tasks such as answering emails and making phone calls
  • adjust events based on client feedback and ensure client satisfaction
  • uphold cleanliness and safety standards before and after events
  • assist customers with product selection and provide solutions
  • deliver fast and friendly checkout experience
  • promote rewards program and private label credit card enrollments
  • educate customers on voice of customer survey
  • support omni channel processes including buy online pickup in store and ship from store
  • participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram duties
  • maintain merchandise recovery and store cleanliness
  • support shrink and safety programs
  • adhere to standard operating procedures and company policies
  • interact respectfully and professionally with customers and team members
  • cross train in custom framing selling and production
