This job opening is for a part-time Party Host/Party Assistant position at the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center, with a hiring rate starting at $11.52 per hour and a salary range up to $14.12 per hour. This role is crucial for ensuring that guests booking birthday parties at the recreation facility have a pleasant and memorable experience. The Party Host/Assistant is responsible for setting up and preparing the party room with all necessary items such as cake, tableware, balloons, party favors, drinks, and food. They will interact with guests by greeting them warmly, assisting with the serving of food and party favors, and addressing any additional needs during the event. Additionally, they will ensure the cleanup and restocking of the party space after the event concludes.
This position operates under direct supervision and does not include management responsibilities or the direction of other employees. It is a frontline role that plays a vital part in customer service within the recreation center environment. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and prioritize various responsibilities to deliver excellent service consistently. Candidates should be prepared to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate party bookings.
While this is a part-time role generally involving less than 20 hours per week, it offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable community service experience, develop customer service skills, and contribute positively to the community. Although traditional benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off are not included due to the part-time status, employees benefit from free access to multiple city recreation centers, including the Don Rodenbaugh Aquatics Center, Ford Pool (summer only), Joe Farmer Recreation Center, The Edge (summer only), Stephen G. Job Requirements
- Less than a high school diploma or equivalent with no prior work experience
- First Aid/CPR certification required or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days from hire
- Food handlers certification required or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from hire

Job Duties
- Provides excellent customer service, addressing customers by phone and in-person
- Place timely and accurate cake orders based on customer specifications
- Prepares room for party by setting out cake, tableware, drinks, balloons and party favors
- Preparation and assisting in service of food along with various other tasks as needed
- Responsible for cleanup and restocking once parties are completed
