This role at the Michaels store in Rochester-Henrietta, NY, is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic retail team focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences and memorable events. The position centers around planning, coordinating, and facilitating events within the store, such as children's birthday parties and craft classes. The goal is to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging environment for guests of all ages, from young children to seniors. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for engaging with customers, helping them shop and find the products they need, and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout experience.

In addition to event coordination, the role includes operational duties such as truck unloading, merchandising, and maintaining store standards to uphold the company's brand promises. The Event Coordinator will also be involved in administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and communicating effectively with clients and the store team. This position requires a blend of creativity, organizational skills, and customer service expertise, along with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events.

The successful candidate is an energetic and enthusiastic individual with excellent people skills and experience working with children and family-oriented events. Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, are essential as is the capability to handle job stress while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude. Previous retail or customer service experience is required, along with the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy boxes, standing for long periods, and using ladders or other equipment safely.

Michaels offers a competitive total base pay range of $16.00 to $18.80 per hour for this position and supports team members with a variety of benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and employee discounts. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including kids birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails and making phone calls
  • Adjust event plans based on client feedback
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards before and after events
  • Help customers shop and locate products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Promote Rewards program and credit card enrollments
  • Assist with Omni channel processes including BOPIS and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unloading and stocking
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to company policies and standard operating procedures
  • Interact respectfully with customers and team members
  • Cross train in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
