Job Description

The Michaels Companies Inc. is a premier arts and crafts retail company, widely recognized as the leading destination for creative and celebratory products and experiences in North America. Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states in the U.S. and Canada and offers a vast selection of arts, crafts, framing, floral, wall décor, and seasonal merchandise both in-store and online. A proud owner of Artistree, a custom and specialty framing manufacturer, Michaels fosters a culture rooted in creativity, innovation, and community, committed to fueling the joy of creativity and celebration for customers and team members alike. At Michaels, they aim to not just provide products, but also create engaging experiences for their diverse clientele through dynamic events and interactive offerings in-store.

The role offered at Michaels in Chandler, Arizona, focuses on Event Coordination within one of their retail stores, hosting various events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The primary objective of this position is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate fun, stress-free, and engaging events that appeal to guests of all ages, from children to seniors. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, providing friendly and professional customer service throughout, and ensuring an enjoyable atmosphere conducive to creativity and community participation. This role involves hands-on interaction with clients and party participants, including demonstrating craft projects and activities such as face painting, while also implementing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons aligned with company standards.

Additionally, the Event Coordinator will perform administrative duties related to event management, such as communicating with clients and staff, adjusting event plans according to client feedback, and formulating contingency plans to handle emergencies smoothly. Beyond event-specific responsibilities, this role also contributes to the overall customer experience by assisting customers with shopping, providing quick and courteous checkout service, and supporting company initiatives like the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card enrollments. Operational duties including merchandise stocking, truck unloading, store recovery, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment are also integral parts of this position. The candidate is expected to uphold company policies, promote a respectful and positive workplace culture, and serve as a role model for other team members.

Michaels prioritizes the well-being of their team by offering comprehensive benefits to both full-time and part-time employees, including health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision, paid time off, tuition assistance programs, and employee discounts. This supportive work environment encourages personal and professional growth, emphasizing inclusion, respect, and collaboration. The position requires physical stamina, the ability to multitask effectively under stress, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for customer service and community engagement. If you have experience working with children, enjoy crafting and event coordination, and thrive in a retail setting with dynamic customer interactions, this role at Michaels Chandler provides an excellent opportunity to grow your career while making a meaningful impact on the customers' shopping and event experience.
