Job Description

The Michaels Companies Inc., headquartered in Irving, Texas, is a leading North American retailer specializing in arts and crafts supplies. Since its founding in 1973, Michaels has grown to operate over 1,300 stores across 49 states in the U.S. and Canada, along with an extensive online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company is recognized as the premier destination for creative enthusiasts and crafters, offering a wide variety of products ranging from art supplies to custom framing and seasonal décor. Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer known for custom and specialty framing merchandise. The company is committed to fostering creativity and celebration through its products, services, and community engagement, making it a beloved brand among hobbyists, artists, and families alike.

This role is based in the Green Bay, WI store and centers around event coordination within the retail space. The primary function of this position is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate events, including children's birthday parties and various craft classes or themed activities. By ensuring these events are well-organized and enjoyable, the Event Coordinator plays a crucial role in delivering a stress-free and fun experience for guests of all ages. At Michaels, this means creating an engaging environment that encourages creativity and community participation while maintaining high standards of customer service.

The coordinator must deliver excellent customer assistance by helping shoppers locate products and providing personalized solutions. Responsibilities also include ensuring a quick and friendly checkout process and supporting essential operational tasks such as unloading deliveries, managing merchandise displays, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization. This multi-faceted role requires both creativity and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple events simultaneously while also supporting daily retail operations.

Key duties involve the facilitation of children's parties with activities like craft project instructions and face painting, arranging event add-ons such as goody bags and balloons, and ensuring client satisfaction through continuous communication and responsiveness to customer feedback. Additionally, this role demands administrative competencies such as handling emails, phone calls, and paperwork, as well as developing contingency plans to address any unforeseen issues during events.

Michaels emphasizes a positive customer experience by engaging guests with the rewards program and efficient service options, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The role also involves participation in inventory and merchandising processes, supporting safety and shrink reduction programs, and maintaining adherence to company policies and legal standards.

This position requires energetic, enthusiastic individuals who have experience working with children and events, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle job-related stress effectively. The working environment is a public retail store setting, with physical requirements that include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy boxes, and using ladders. Candidates should be prepared for variable shifts including nights, weekends, and early mornings. Michaels values inclusion and provides reasonable accommodations to ensure all employees can perform their jobs effectively.

Michaels offers robust benefits for full-time and part-time team members, including health insurance options (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. Committed to diversity and equal opportunity, Michaels fosters an inclusive workplace where every customer and team member can thrive, innovate, and contribute to the company’s vision of fueling creativity and celebration across communities.
