Job Description

Michaels is a leading arts and crafts retail company that operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states in the U.S. and throughout Canada, as well as online through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established itself as the premier destination for all things creative and celebratory. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, which complements its wide array of craft supplies, framing services, and creative products. At Michaels, the core purpose is to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration, providing customers with an inspiring shopping experience whether they visit a physical store or browse online. The company is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for both customers and team members, ensuring safety, accessibility, and a positive culture that supports innovation and teamwork.

This role is for a part-time Event Coordinator based at the Michaels store in Carson City, NV. The primary responsibility of this position is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate various in-store events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and special themed events designed to engage customers and create memorable experiences. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of event execution, from communicating with clients and store team members to preparing materials, setting up, facilitating activities, and cleaning up post-event. This role requires a creative and energetic individual who enjoys working with guests of all ages, particularly children, and who can maintain a fun, safe, and engaging atmosphere.

In addition to event planning and coordination, the Event Coordinator also plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service by assisting customers in shopping, locating products, and explaining the benefits of Rewards programs and credit card enrollments. The role includes operational duties such as truck unloading, merchandise stocking, planogram execution, and store recovery to maintain Michaels' brand promise of an outstanding shopping environment.

The position requires excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities (both verbal and written), and the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced retail setting. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift boxes, climb ladders, and perform routine store cleanliness and maintenance activities. The role emphasizes safety, compliance with company policies, and promoting a positive team atmosphere.

Compensation for this position ranges from $12.00 to $14.10 per hour. Michaels offers valuable benefits including health insurance options (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. They are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.

This part-time Event Coordinator role is ideal for energetic candidates with retail or customer service experience, a passion for creativity, and the ability to engage with a wide range of customers. It is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a community-focused retail store while developing event planning and customer service skills in a supportive and creative environment.
