The role at Michaels Amherst, NY, focuses on event coordination within the store, primarily planning and facilitating events such as children's birthday parties and various craft classes. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic, customer-facing environments and enjoy creating fun, engaging, and stress-free experiences for guests of all ages. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, demonstrating craft projects, and facilitating additional event features like goody bags and balloons in adherence to company standards. Beyond event planning, the role entails delivering exceptional customer service, assisting shoppers in locating products, and ensuring a swift and friendly checkout experience.

Operational duties are also an integral part of this position, with expectations including truck unloading, stocking, merchandise recovery, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in event coordination or customer service
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Capability to lift and carry heavy boxes and access high shelves
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings
  • Physical ability to perform tasks including bending, stretching, and using ladders
  • Willingness to comply with company policies and procedures
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and perform activities like face painting
  • Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans for events
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards including setup and cleanup
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experiences
  • Promote Rewards program and assist with enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer surveys
  • Manage Omni channel processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram execution
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • Interact respectfully with customers and team members
  • Cross train in Custom Framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
