With over 1,300 stores in 49 states and Canada, alongside a robust online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca, the company serves as the ultimate destination for creative enthusiasts and hobbyists alike. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels not only offers a wide variety of crafting supplies but also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise. The company has a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all customers and employees, emphasizing the joy of creativity and community in every aspect of the shopping experience.
This role is based in the Michaels store located in Daytona Beach, FL, where the focus is on planning, coordinating, and facilitating a diverse range of events that enhance the customer experience and foster an engaging atmosphere. The position places special emphasis on organizing fun and memorable children’s birthday parties, alongside other creative classes and workshops, providing a stress-free and enjoyable experience for guests of all ages. The Event Coordinator at Michaels will be a vibrant and enthusiastic individual, skilled at managing multiple events simultaneously while ensuring that every client’s needs and feedback are carefully considered and met.
In addition to event coordination, this role involves delivering exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers in finding products, informing them about loyalty programs and credit cards, and providing a swift and friendly checkout process. Responsibilities also extend to operational tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining store recovery standards, and participating in store cleanliness activities to uphold the company’s brand promises and safety standards.
The role demands excellent communication skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively with customers ranging from young children to seniors, all while adhering to company policies and fostering a positive workplace atmosphere. Candidates should be experienced in handling the dynamics of children’s events and have a genuine passion for crafting, customer interaction, and event management. Physical demands include the ability to stand for long periods, move throughout the store, and safely handle lifting and carrying tasks.
Michaels supports its team members with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. The company prioritizes equal opportunity employment and makes reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities to ensure all employees can thrive. Joining Michaels means being part of a vibrant, creative community dedicated to innovation, inclusion, and the celebration of creativity across generations.
