Job Description

Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established itself as the premier place for all things creative, including arts and crafts supplies, framing merchandise, decor, and more. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, further reinforcing its commitment to quality and innovation in creative products. Michaels prides itself on fueling the joy of creativity and celebration by providing customers with exceptional products, inspiring ideas, and engaging experiences in-store and online.

The role of Event Coordinator at Michaels in Scranton, PA, is a unique and dynamic position focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating events within the store. This includes children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other community-oriented gatherings designed to offer a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests of all ages, from young children to seniors. This includes assisting with truck unloading, merchandising, stocking, planogram compliance, and inventory recovery. The role also entails providing an exceptional checkout experience, promoting the store’s rewards programs and credit card enrollments, and assisting with omni-channel processes like Buy Online Pickup In Store and Ship From Store.

Candidates should expect a work environment that involves physical activity such as standing for extended periods, lifting heavy boxes, accessing high shelves, and maintaining store cleanliness. This multifaceted position requires energetic, enthusiastic individuals with excellent people skills, experience working with children and children’s events, and strong communication and organizational abilities.

Michaels is committed to inclusivity and equal opportunities for all team members and customers. The company offers comprehensive benefits for full-time and part-time employees, including health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts.
