Michaels is a leading arts and crafts retail company operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states in the U.S. and Canada. Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has built a strong reputation as the premier destination for creative enthusiasts and hobbyists, offering a wide array of supplies for arts, crafts, framing, floral arrangements, and seasonal décor. In addition to its retail presence, Michaels owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, enhancing its commitment to catering to both everyday consumers and professional creatives. The company prides itself on fueling the joy of creativity and celebration, providing a vibrant and inspiring environment for customers to explore their artistic passions and create memorable experiences. Michaels prioritizes the wellbeing of its team members by offering comprehensive benefits and fostering an inclusive workplace culture dedicated to innovation, respect, and growth.
This role is based in the Dayton-Beavercreek, Ohio Michaels store and is centered on event coordination, customer service, and supporting operational tasks to ensure a seamless shopping experience for guests. The position offers an hourly pay ranging from $11.00 to $13.00. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about customer engagement, creative activities, and retail environments. The primary responsibility involves planning and facilitating various events—including children’s birthday parties and crafting sessions—within the store to provide a fun, stress-free, and memorable experience for guests of all ages. Candidates will play a pivotal role in creating an atmosphere of creativity and excitement, guiding participants through craft projects, and managing event logistics such as setup, breakdown, and administrative duties.
Additionally, this role encompasses delivering friendly and efficient customer service by assisting shoppers in finding products, educating them on company programs such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and ensuring a smooth checkout process. The candidate will also support store operations by participating in merchandise replenishment, layout standards, inventory management, and safety programs to uphold the store’s brand promises. The position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple events and duties simultaneously, and a strong team-oriented attitude to collaborate effectively with store leadership and coworkers. Physical demands include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift and handle merchandise, and work in a dynamic retail environment that includes some use of ladders and equipment handling. Michaels is committed to equal opportunity employment and provides accommodations for individuals with disabilities, making it a welcoming workplace for diverse talent. This role is a unique blend of creativity, event management, and retail customer service, offering an engaging career path within a respected arts and crafts company.
