The role available at the Syracuse-Dewitt, NY location focuses on event coordination within a Michaels store. This position is dynamic and customer-facing, designed for an individual passionate about creating memorable experiences through arts and crafts. The key responsibility is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of events including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other in-store activities, ensuring that these occasions are stress-free, fun, and engaging for all participants. The event coordinator works closely with clients of all ages, ranging from young children to seniors, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and enjoyment. They actively engage participants by demonstrating craft projects, performing activities such as face painting, and managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, all in line with company standards.
Beyond event management, this role also involves delivering exceptional customer service by assisting guests in shopping, locating products, and providing solutions that enhance their shopping experience. The event coordinator ensures quick and friendly checkout experiences for patrons and promotes loyalty through customer education about Rewards programs and Private Label Credit Cards. Additionally, the role includes operational responsibilities such as truck unloading, merchandise stocking, maintaining store recovery standards, participating in the store's shrink and safety programs, and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures to meet legal and company requirements. The position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to handle multiple events simultaneously, and strong organizational capabilities.
The work environment is fast-paced and physically active, requiring standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and reaching, with some duties performed in stockrooms or occasionally outdoors. The role demands a blend of creativity, enthusiasm, and dependable work ethic, suitable for someone who thrives in engaging with customers and colleagues to create a vibrant and welcoming retail experience. Compensation for this position ranges from $16.00 to $18.80 per hour, with eligibility for overtime pay in accordance with state and local laws. - perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
- support shrink and safety programs
- adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies

- cross train in Custom Framing selling and production
- participate in store cleanliness activities including sweeping and dusting
