The Michaels store located in Bridgeport, CT is seeking a dynamic Event Coordinator to join their team. This role is essential to delivering a memorable, fun, and stress-free experience for guests by planning and executing events, including children's birthday parties, craft classes, and other creative sessions within the store. As an Event Coordinator at Michaels, you will be the heart of the customer experience, engaging guests of all ages and ensuring every event runs smoothly from start to finish. The role involves managing multiple events simultaneously, from initial client communication to the execution and wrap-up of each party. You will be responsible for coordinating all event components such as craft projects, face painting, and additional party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to maintain company standards. Administrative responsibilities also include handling emails, phone calls, and event paperwork. Adjusting plans based on client feedback and preparing backup plans for contingencies are part of the role to guarantee high client satisfaction.
In addition to event coordination, you will provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers in finding products, explaining the benefits of programs such as rewards and private label credit cards, and processing sales transactions efficiently. You will also participate in operational tasks such as truck unloads, stocking, planogram execution, and maintaining store standards in terms of merchandise recovery, cleanliness, and safety. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in event coordination or customer service
- Ability to stand and move throughout the store for extended periods
- Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and company policies
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and early mornings as required
- Must meet federal, state, and local legal job requirements
