This position is based in the BAY-SAN MATEO, CA store and focuses on Event Coordination and Customer Experience within the retail environment. As an Event Coordinator, you will plan, coordinate, and facilitate diverse events including children's birthday parties and craft classes to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable experience for guests of all ages. This role requires interpersonal skills to engage with customers and clients, creating an atmosphere of fun and creativity while ensuring all operational aspects of the events run smoothly. You will be responsible for the entire event lifecycle—from setup to breakdown—and manage add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to meet company standards.
In addition to event responsibilities, this role includes providing friendly and efficient customer service. You will assist customers by helping them find products, educating them on benefits such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and facilitating checkout processes. Support for omnichannel services like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) is also part of the role. Operational duties will include stocking, merchandise recovery, truck unload, and maintaining overall store cleanliness and safety standards.
This position demands excellent communication skills, organizational ability, creativity, and problem-solving aptitudes, combined with an energetic and enthusiastic personality. Experience working with children and hosting children’s events is essential as well as retail or customer service experience. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy boxes, and accessing high shelves. The work environment involves interaction with customers, co-workers, and public spaces that are climate controlled, with occasional outdoor work.
The total base pay range for this position is $18.75–$22.00 per hour, with potential eligibility for overtime compensation in compliance with state and local laws. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children and children's events
- Retail and/or customer service experience
- Energetic and enthusiastic personality
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and listening skills
- Organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain standing for long periods and perform physical tasks including lifting and reaching
- Ability to interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and early mornings as required

Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events
- Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects, perform face painting and other activities
- Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards
- Communicate events with clients and store team members
- Complete administrative tasks including answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
- Adjust event plans based on client feedback and create backup or emergency plans
- Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
- Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- Engage customers on benefits of rewards programs and private label credit cards and complete enrollments
- Assist with omni channel processes including buy online pickup in store and ship from store
- Participate in truck unload, stocking, merchandise recovery, and store maintenance
- Support shrink and safety programs
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and company policies
- Interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
- Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
- Cross trained in custom framing selling and production
- Other duties as assigned
