Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has grown into a leading brand dedicated to fostering joy, innovation, and artistry in communities everywhere.
This particular role is based in a Michaels store located in Reno, NV, and centers around event coordination with a special focus on children’s birthday parties and other crafting events. The position is a dynamic blend of customer service, event planning, and operational duties designed to ensure an exceptional in-store experience. Candidates will be responsible for creating fun, engaging, and memorable events that encourage creativity and excited participation among guests ages 4 to 94 and beyond. By fostering a welcoming and inspiring environment, this role contributes directly to cementing Michaels' reputation as a vibrant community hub for crafting and celebration.
In addition to planning and facilitating events, the role includes delivering friendly, efficient customer service by assisting shoppers in locating products and navigating store offerings. The individual will ensure a fast and friendly checkout experience, promote Michaels’ rewards program and private label credit cards, and support omnichannel retail processes like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The successful candidate will also complete various operational duties such as unloading merchandise trucks, stocking, housecleaning, and maintaining store recovery standards. Communication with clients and store team members is essential to effectively manage client expectations and adjust event plans to meet needs and feedback.
The position offers a pay range between $12.75 and $15.00 per hour and may qualify for overtime compensation in compliance with state and local laws. Michaels also extends a comprehensive benefits package that, depending on position and eligibility, may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) plan with employer match, employee assistance programs, tuition and adoption assistance, and more. Employees benefit from everyday perks such as discounts on products and access to partner discount programs.

It encourages applicants of all backgrounds to apply, offering reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities throughout the hiring process. This position demands a personable, enthusiastic individual with strong communication skills, experience in retail or customer service, and a passion for organizing creative events that delight guests of all ages. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry merchandise, and perform tasks that maintain a clean and safe store environment. Evening, weekend, and early morning shifts are standard to meet business and event demands.
