This position is a Store Event Coordinator role situated in Richmond-Broad, VA, offering hourly pay ranging between $12.77 and $15.00, with the potential for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable laws. The role is designed to coordinate and facilitate diverse arts and crafts events such as children's birthday parties and craft classes within a Michaels store. The primary objective is to create a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests, ensuring memorable and creative moments. The Event Coordinator is responsible for planning multiple events simultaneously, engaging with clients across all age groups, and delivering exceptional customer service throughout the store.
In addition to the event coordination duties, this role encompasses essential operational tasks including helping customers with their shopping needs, providing fast and friendly checkout experiences, assisting with inventory processes such as truck unloading and merchandising, and maintaining store standards and safety protocols. The position requires a highly energetic and enthusiastic individual with excellent people skills and the ability to handle job stress while interacting effectively with people of all ages. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are critical to successfully managing multiple responsibilities.

Job Requirements
- Ability to remain standing for long periods
- Ability to move throughout the store
- Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching
- Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves by ladder or similar equipment
- Experience working with children and managing children’s events
- Retail or customer service experience
- Excellent people skills
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and early mornings
- Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements for employment
- Must be able to maintain a positive and respectful attitude in all situations
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
- Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
- Facilitate and implement party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to company standards
- Communicate and coordinate events with clients and store team members
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
- Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup plans
- Uphold cleanliness and safety standards during event setup, execution, and breakdown
- Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
- Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
- Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey
- Assist with Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
- Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes
- Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
- Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties
- Support shrink and safety programs
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies
- Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner
- Cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production
- Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
- Other duties as assigned
