Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, providing a comprehensive range of crafting supplies, framing services, and creative classes to customers who seek inspiration and artistic expression. Known for its wide selection of products and commitment to customer satisfaction, Michaels has established itself as a go-to destination for individuals and families looking to explore their creative passions.

The Michaels store in North Aurora, IL, is currently seeking a part-time Event Coordinator to join their dynamic team. This role is integral to providing an exceptional customer experience by planning, coordinating, and facilitating various in-store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The role requires a personable and energetic individual who thrives in a customer-focused retail setting and possesses excellent organizational and communication skills. As an Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering stress-free, fun, and engaging creative experiences that appeal to guests of all ages, from children to seniors. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $17.70, with potential for overtime pay in accordance with applicable laws.

The Event Coordinator will plan and manage multiple events simultaneously, ensuring each event meets Michaels’ quality standards and delivers on the company’s brand promises. Duties include instructing participants in craft projects, organizing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, and maintaining a clean and safe environment before, during, and after events. In addition to event management, the role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting shoppers in locating products, and ensuring a friendly and efficient checkout experience. The Event Coordinator will also support store operations by helping unload trucks, stock merchandise, and maintain visual and inventory standards.

Applicants for this position must be comfortable working in a retail environment that requires standing for extended periods, lifting and moving merchandise, and interacting with a diverse customer base. The company encourages a respectful and inclusive work culture, promoting positive interactions among team members and guests alike. Michaels offers various benefits to support employees, including 401(k) with employer match, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition and adoption assistance, employee discounts, and access to an Employee Assistance Program.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys crafting, event coordination, and working directly with people in a creative and supportive retail environment.
