This position, based at a Michaels store in Allen, Texas, focuses on event coordination and customer experience enhancement within the store. The role primarily involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating events such as children's birthday parties and craft classes, providing guests with a fun, engaging, and stress-free creative experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all events are executed to company standards, maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after each event. Acting as an ambassador for the Michaels brand, they must foster an environment that promotes creativity for guests aged from young children to seniors. Additionally, the role demands proactive customer service, assisting shoppers in locating products, managing checkout efficiently, enrolling customers in rewards programs, and supporting omnichannel retail services such as buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS), and ship from store (SFS).

In addition to event coordination, this job includes operational responsibilities such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining store recovery standards, and adhering to standard operating procedures and company policies. Candidates for this position should be energetic and enthusiastic, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the ability to handle the challenges of retail and event logistics. Experience working with children and organizing children's events is highly preferred. This position is in a dynamic, physically active retail environment that requires standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and reaching, sometimes involving the use of ladders.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in event coordination or customer service preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings
  • Must be able to stand for long periods

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed
  • Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards including set up, break down, and clean before and after each event
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly check out experience
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
  • Participate in truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner
  • project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members
  • Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms
  • Perform other duties as assigned
