The role of Event Coordinator at a Michaels store in Midland, Texas, is an exciting opportunity for a highly energetic and enthusiastic individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. This position focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating events such as children’s birthday parties and various craft classes designed to offer guests a stress-free, engaging, and memorable experience. The Event Coordinator is responsible for creating a fun environment that sparks creativity among guests ranging in age from toddlers to seniors. They play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service, assisting shoppers in finding products, providing a smooth checkout experience, and supporting store operations such as truck unloading, merchandising, and maintaining the store’s recovery standards.
The Event Coordinator is expected to skillfully manage multiple events simultaneously, ensuring seamless communication with clients and store team members while maintaining strict adherence to company policies and safety standards. Duties include instructing party participants in craft projects, performing face painting, organizing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, and completing necessary administrative tasks such as answering emails and phone calls. The individual must be capable of adapting plans based on client feedback, implementing backup plans if needed, and consistently ensuring high client satisfaction.
Beyond event coordination, this role deeply engages with the customer experience by helping shoppers locate products, promoting loyalty programs and credit card enrollments, educating customers about feedback surveys, and supporting omni-channel services like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy boxes, moving throughout the store, and participating in daily cleanliness routines. Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events including children's birthday parties and craft classes
- Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
- Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities
- Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
- Communicate event details with clients and store team members
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork

- Promote and enroll customers in Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards

- Support shrink and safety programs
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
- Cross train in Custom Framing selling and production
