The role centers around planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events such as children's birthday parties and craft classes inside the store. The Event Coordinator is responsible for creating a fun and stress-free atmosphere that appeals to guests of all ages, from young children to seniors. This includes actively engaging with clients, organizing craft activities, and executing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards. Administrative duties such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing necessary paperwork are also essential to ensure smooth event execution. The coordinator is expected to adapt plans based on client feedback and proactively prepare backup plans to handle any unforeseen circumstances.

Additionally, the position involves delivering excellent customer service by assisting shoppers in finding the right products, processing checkouts quickly, and promoting the Michaels Rewards program and private label credit cards. The role also requires participation in store operational tasks like unloading trucks, stocking shelves, performing merchandise recovery, and maintaining cleanliness standards to uphold the company’s brand promises. Supporting safety and shrink reduction programs, adhering to standard operating procedures, and positively representing the company ethos at all times are key responsibilities.

The ideal candidate combines energetic enthusiasm with strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a background in retail or customer service. Experience working with children and managing children's events is highly preferred. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, perform regular bending, lifting, and reaching, and use ladders and other equipment to access stock. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service
  • Experience working with children and conducting children's events
  • Ability to handle job stress and work with diverse clientele

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and reaching
  • Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct craft projects and perform activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup plans as needed
  • Ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards
  • Help customers locate products and provide shopping assistance
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Promote Rewards program and credit card enrollments
  • Assist with omnichannel processes including BOPIS and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, and merchandise recovery
  • Support store safety and shrink programs
  • Adhere to company policies and standard operating procedures
  • Cross train in custom framing selling and production
  • Maintain daily store cleanliness including sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting
  • Perform store in stock optimization and AD set duties
  • Other duties as assigned
