Job Description

Michaels is a leading arts and crafts retail company with over 1,300 stores across North America, offering a wide range of supplies for crafting, art projects, and custom framing. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels prioritizes quality, creativity, and customer engagement. The company is dedicated to providing a comprehensive shopping experience for artists, hobbyists, and event planners, making it the best place for all things creative. At Michaels, both full-time and part-time team members receive robust benefits, including health insurance options, paid time off, and tuition assistance, underscoring the company's commitment to employee well-being and growth.

The role of Event Coordinator at the Michaels store in Daytona Beach, FL, is a part-time position focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events within the store environment. This exciting position centers on organizing events such as children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other creative engagements designed to deliver a stress-free, fun, and memorable experience for guests of all ages. The Event Coordinator works closely with clients and store team members to ensure seamless execution of events by managing all aspects from setup and facilitation to cleanup and follow-up, adhering to company standards and policies.

Key responsibilities include engaging participants by demonstrating craft projects, providing face painting, managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, and maintaining a clean and safe environment before, during, and after events. The position also involves delivering excellent customer service, helping customers with shopping needs, facilitating a fast and friendly checkout process, and supporting Omni channel fulfillment strategies such as Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The Event Coordinator will also assist in regular operational tasks like truck unloading, stocking, planogram execution, merchandise recovery, and participating in store maintenance to uphold our brand promises.

Candidates for this role must demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple events simultaneously and respond dynamically to client feedback. Experience working with children and organizing children’s events, coupled with prior retail or customer service experience, is preferred. The role requires physical stamina to stand for extended periods, move throughout the store, and perform tasks involving bending, lifting, and ladder use.

Michaels is committed to inclusion and offers reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, ensuring an accessible and respectful workplace. This position works in a public retail store setting with climate-controlled public areas, some outdoor work, and occasional exposure to heat and glass cutting equipment in the frame shop area. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings, providing flexible scheduling options for part-time employees.

Joining Michaels as an Event Coordinator means becoming part of a team dedicated to fueling creativity and celebration while providing a welcoming and engaging environment for customers.
