Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, along with a strong online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise. Michaels prides itself on being the best place for all things creative, offering a wide range of products and services to hobbyists, artists, and customers of all ages.
Our store located at Lexington-Pavilion Way, Kentucky, is now seeking a passionate and energetic Event Coordinator to join our team in a part-time capacity. This role is integral in creating memorable and enjoyable experiences for customers by planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The Event Coordinator will work closely with guests of all ages to ensure that each event is stress-free, engaging, and fun, while maintaining the high standards of customer service and operational excellence that Michaels is known for.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, communicating effectively with clients and store team members, and delivering a fast and friendly checkout experience to customers. Responsibilities also include instructing party participants in craft projects, performing face painting, and executing party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons. The coordinator will handle administrative tasks, respond to client feedback by adjusting event plans accordingly, and develop contingency plans for event emergencies.
In addition to event coordination, this role involves supporting day-to-day store operations such as assisting customers with shopping, enrolment in rewards programs and private label credit cards, and supporting Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The Event Coordinator will also participate in merchandise stocking, recovery, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards.
This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic personality with excellent people skills, alongside experience working with children and children's events. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills are essential. Candidates must be able to handle job stress and interact positively with guests and co-workers of all ages. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods, move throughout the store, lift and carry heavy boxes, and use ladders to access high shelves.
Michaels provides a supportive work environment with a commitment to equal opportunity and inclusion, as well as reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. The company offers robust benefits for part-time team members, including health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. If you have a passion for creativity, customer service, and event coordination, this part-time position at Michaels Lexington-Pavilion Way offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to memorable customer experiences.
