Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across the United States and Canada, as well as online through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Michaels also owns Artistree, a reputable manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, extending its expertise into creative framing solutions. Positioned as a vibrant destination for all things creative, Michaels is dedicated to helping customers fuel their passion for crafting and artistic projects, whether they are hobbyists, professional artists, or families seeking engaging activities.
The Michaels store located in Mt. Pleasant, SC, is seeking a part-time Event Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in facilitating memorable and enjoyable events within the store, including children's birthday parties and various craft classes. This position involves planning, coordinating, and executing multiple events simultaneously to ensure that each attendee experiences a fun, stress-free, and creative environment. The successful candidate will engage with guests of all ages, fostering a welcoming atmosphere that inspires creativity and connection. In addition to event coordination, this role includes delivering exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers in finding products, promoting the store's Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout experience.
The Event Coordinator must be versatile, handling both the creative aspects of party planning and the operational tasks essential to store success. Responsibilities include demonstrating craft projects, managing party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons, and maintaining communication with clients and team members. Administrative duties such as managing emails and phone communications, adjusting event plans based on client feedback, and creating contingency plans are integral to this role. The coordinator is also responsible for maintaining store standards of cleanliness and safety, as well as assisting with merchandise duties like stocking, planogram processes, and truck unloads.
Applicants should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. Experience with children's events and retail or customer service backgrounds are preferred. The role requires physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving bending, lifting, and reaching. Michaels values team members who exhibit an energetic and enthusiastic personality, respect for diversity, and a commitment to upholding company policies and brand promises.
Michaels supports its team members with comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and employee discounts. The company is committed to inclusion and provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals, reflecting its dedication to being an employer of choice. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Michaels encourages all interested candidates who meet the job requirements to apply and become part of a company that celebrates creativity and community while promoting personal and professional growth. This part-time role based in Mt. Pleasant, SC, offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about crafting and event coordination to grow within a supportive and dynamic retail environment.
