This employment opportunity is for a Part-Time Event Coordinator position at the Omaha-Central, Nebraska Michaels store. The key responsibility of this role involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events within the store, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The Event Coordinator is expected to create a vibrant and engaging environment that appeals across generations, from young children to seniors. Emphasis is placed on delivering a stress-free, fun experience that aligns with Michaels’ brand promises of customer satisfaction and quality.
In addition to event coordination, this role plays a critical part in delivering exceptional customer service. The coordinator assists customers throughout their shopping journey by helping them locate products, providing creative solutions, answering queries, and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout process. They actively participate in operational store tasks, including merchandise stocking, truck unloading, store cleanup, and maintenance of recovery standards to preserve store appearance and organization. Familiarity with store policies, safety standards, and loss prevention practices is essential.
The role demands strong organizational skills to handle multiple events and administrative tasks such as managing client communications, emails, and paperwork. The coordinator adapts plans proactively based on client feedback and unexpected circumstances, ensuring event success and customer satisfaction. The position requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy boxes, and perform repetitive tasks. Job Requirements
- Ability to plan and coordinate events and activities
- Experience working with children and children's events
- Excellent people and communication skills

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience coordinating events, preferably with children
- Retail or customer service experience
- Strong communication skills including verbal, written, and listening
- Organizational and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to engage and interact with diverse age groups
- Knowledge of customer service best practices
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events including children's birthday parties and craft classes
- Engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
- Demonstrate and instruct craft projects and perform activities like face painting
- Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards
- Communicate event details with clients and store team members
- Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
- Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup plans
- Ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards
- Help customers shop and locate products
- Provide fast and friendly checkout experiences
- Promote and enroll customers in Rewards program and credit cards
- Educate customers about Voice of Customer surveys
- Assist with Omni channel procedures including BOPIS and Ship From Store
- Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes
- Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
- Support shrink and safety programs
- Adhere to SOPs and company policies
- Interact respectfully and promote company values
- Cross train in custom framing selling and production
- Maintain store cleanliness including sweeping and restroom upkeep
- Perform other assigned duties as needed
