The position available at the Millbury, Massachusetts store is a versatile role focused on event coordination, customer service, and store operations. The candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children’s birthday parties and creative craft classes, designed to deliver a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests of all ages. This role requires a person who is enthusiastic, energetic, and capable of creating an environment that fosters creativity and enjoyment. The Event Coordinator will interact with clients ranging from young children to seniors, performing activities such as craft project demonstrations and face painting, as well as managing party add-ons consistent with company standards.

Besides event planning, the role demands direct customer service duties, including assisting shoppers in locating products, explaining the benefits of the company’s rewards programs, handling checkout efficiently and courteously, and supporting online order processing such as Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). This position also involves operational responsibilities such as unloading trucks, maintaining merchandise displays according to planograms, ensuring store cleanliness, and contributing to inventory and safety procedures. Cross-training in Custom Framing selling and production may be part of the job, adding to the diversity of the workday.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with experience working with children and managing events in a retail environment. The physical demands include standing for extended periods, moving throughout the store, lifting, and handling store merchandise and equipment safely. Working hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings, reflecting the needs of a retail environment.

Michaels offers a competitive base pay range of $15.00 to $17.70 per hour with potential eligibility for overtime, emphasizing fair compensation aligned with local labor laws. Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • engage clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting and other activities
  • facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • communicate event details with clients and store team members
  • complete administrative tasks including answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
  • adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs
  • create and implement backup or emergency plans for events
  • ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • uphold cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events
  • help customers shop and locate products
  • provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes
  • participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
  • complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • support shrink and safety programs
  • adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
  • cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production
  • participate in daily store cleanliness activities
  • perform other duties as assigned
