This role is a part-time Event Coordinator position at the Michaels store located in Draper, Utah. This position is centered around planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events within the store, including children's birthday parties and craft classes. The successful candidate will create a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests of all ages—from young children to seniors—by developing creative event themes and leading interactive craft activities such as face painting and project instructions. The Event Coordinator will also handle logistics including party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, ensuring every detail meets company standards. Communication is key in this role as it involves coordinating with clients and store team members to manage event schedules and requirements. Administrative duties such as answering emails, phone calls, and paperwork are also part of the responsibilities. The position includes delivering excellent customer service by helping shoppers locate products, facilitating fast and friendly checkout experiences, and educating customers about the store’s rewards program and credit card offerings. Additionally, the role supports store operational activities including truck unloading, stocking, merchandising, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to safety and company policies. Candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic, and possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills with previous experience working with children and customer service. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy boxes, and perform tasks involving bending, reaching, and climbing ladders. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with children and planning children’s events
  • Customer service experience in retail setting
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle stress and interact effectively with diverse customers and coworkers
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and early mornings
  • Ability to follow company policies and maintain safety standards

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting and other event activities
  • Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including answering emails, phone calls and paperwork
  • Adjust events based on client feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans for events
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events
  • Help customers shop and locate products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Engage customers about the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with Buy Online Pickup In Store and Ship From Store processes
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking and merchandising processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, company policies, and legal requirements
  • Interact with customers and coworkers positively and respectfully
  • Cross-trained in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining restroom cleanliness
  • Perform other duties as assigned
