The role at the Michaels store located in Thousand Oaks, California, focuses on event coordination and customer engagement within a vibrant and customer-centric retail environment. This part-time position comes with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17.50 to $20.60, depending on experience and responsibilities. The core responsibility of the Event Coordinator is to plan, manage, and facilitate multiple in-store events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for guests of all ages, from young children to seniors. This involves active participation during events by demonstrating craft projects, performing activities like face painting, and managing additional party elements such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards. The role also requires excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and store team members, ensuring smooth coordination and adaptability to client feedback. Administrative duties such as managing paperwork, responding to emails, and organizing event details are part of the daily workflow. Familiarity with omnichannel retail processes such as Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) is beneficial. Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including answering emails and making phone calls
  • Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans as needed
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experiences
  • Promote Rewards program and credit card enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with Buy Online Pickup In Store and Ship From Store processes
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company compliance policies
  • Interact respectfully with customers and team members
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
