The role being offered at the Baltimore-Columbia, MD store is focused on event coordination within the Michaels retail environment. This position centers around planning, coordinating, and facilitating events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes aimed at creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for guests. The event coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, engaging actively with clients to ensure they have memorable and enjoyable experiences, and delivering crafts and activities with enthusiasm and professionalism.
In addition to event planning, the role requires delivering exemplary customer service by assisting in product selection, offering creative solutions, and ensuring smooth and friendly checkout experiences. Candidates will be involved in operational tasks essential to maintaining store standards, including unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, completing store recovery processes, and supporting safety and shrink programs.

Job Requirements
- must be at least 18 years old
- ability to stand for long periods and move throughout the store
- capability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders
- good verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills
- experience handling job stress effectively

- willingness to work nights, weekends, and early mornings
- ability to perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, and carrying
- must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements for employment

Job Duties
- plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and craft classes
- engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
- demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities like face painting
- facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons
- communicate event details effectively with clients and store team members
- complete administrative tasks including answering emails and making phone calls
- adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs
- create and execute backup or emergency plans
- ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
- maintain cleanliness and safety standards through proper event setup and breakdown
- help customers shop and locate products
- provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- promote rewards program and credit card enrollments
- educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
- assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes
- participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
- complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
- perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
- support shrink and safety programs
- adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
- interact respectfully and positively with others
- cross train in custom framing selling and production
- participate in daily store cleanliness activities
- perform other duties as assigned
