The role of Event Coordinator at the Michaels store located in N. ORL-Magnolia, LA is a part-time position focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes. This role is designed to create a stress-free, fun, and engaging atmosphere for guests of all ages. The Event Coordinator is responsible for greeting customers warmly, assisting with product selection, and ensuring a smooth and friendly checkout process. Additionally, the position involves completing operational tasks such as unloading shipments, merchandise duties, and maintaining the store's recovery standards to uphold the brand promises of Michaels.
In this dynamic role, the Event Coordinator plans multiple events simultaneously, engaging with clients ranging from children to seniors, and provides hands-on instruction for craft projects and activities like face painting. They also manage party enhancements such as goody bags and balloons according to company requirements. Strong communication skills are vital, as the coordinator must interact with clients and team members effectively, handle administrative duties including emails and phone calls, and adapt event plans based on client feedback. Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events is essential to create a welcoming environment.
Customer service excellence is a key component of this role, with the coordinator assisting customers in locating products, explaining the benefits of the Michaels Rewards program, facilitating credit card enrollments, and educating customers about the Voice of Customer survey. The coordinator supports omnichannel processes like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS), participates in merchandise stocking, recovery, and store cleanliness, and adheres to all company policies and legal standards. Additionally, cross-training in custom framing sales and production offers opportunities for skill development.
This position requires energetic and enthusiastic individuals who can handle work stress, interact positively with diverse customers and coworkers, and have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience working with children and handling children's events is preferred, along with good verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, move throughout the store, lift heavy boxes, and safely access high shelves. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in event coordination or similar role
- Experience working with children and children's events
