The position available at the DC-Laurel, MD store is focused on event coordination and customer engagement. The role primarily involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating events within the store environment, such as children’s birthday parties and other crafting classes or activities. This unique position blends event management skills with retail customer service expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for guests ranging in age from children to seniors, ensuring all participants have a memorable and positive experience. This includes managing event details, interacting with clients and store teams, and maintaining high standards for safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
In addition to event coordination, this role also demands a commitment to exceptional customer service. Employees help customers navigate the store, locate products, and provide knowledgeable solutions to meet their crafting needs. They ensure a smooth and friendly checkout process and assist with various operational tasks such as stocking, unloading merchandise trucks, and maintaining store displays and recovery standards. The role requires multitasking and the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively, given the dynamic nature of retail and event hosting.
The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for working with people of all ages, particularly children. - Retail and/or customer service experience required
- experience working with children and managing children’s events

Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
- engage with clients of all ages to create a fun and creative environment
- demonstrate and instruct craft projects and activities such as face painting
- facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons
- communicate event details with clients and store team members
- complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
- adjust events based on client feedback and create backup plans
- ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards
- help customers shop and locate products
- provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- promote and enroll customers in rewards programs and credit cards
- educate customers on Voice of Customer surveys
- assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes
- participate in truck unloading, stocking, and merchandise recovery
- perform Store in Stock Optimization and display duties
- support shrink and safety programs
- adhere to company policies and standards
- interact respectfully with others and serve as a role model
- cross-train in custom framing selling and production
- participate in store cleanliness activities
