Job Description

Andreessen Horowitz, also known as a16z, is a renowned venture capital firm established in Silicon Valley in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz. The firm is celebrated for backing bold entrepreneurs who are shaping the future through innovative technology. With a portfolio that spans from seed to growth-stage companies, a16z invests across a diverse range of sectors including artificial intelligence, biotechnology and healthcare, consumer technologies, cryptocurrency, enterprise solutions, fintech, infrastructure, and companies fostering American dynamism. Managing $100 billion across multiple funds, a16z is a powerhouse in venture capital, consistently supporting groundbreaking companies such as Waymo, Anduril, Coinbase, Databricks, Figma, Flock Safety, Loom, Roblox, and Stripe.

Andreessen Horowitz is distinguished by its deep respect for entrepreneurs and its firsthand understanding of the founder’s journey. The firm prides itself on being a partner to founders, offering not just capital but strategic guidance and support that helps companies grow and thrive in competitive environments. With a culture that prioritizes first-class business practices, long-term relationships, and a diverse and inclusive workforce, a16z is committed to fostering innovation and driving impact through technology.

The available role is for an Events Partner within a16z’s New Media team, the firm’s thought leadership engine. New Media is influential in the spheres of technology, policy, and culture, leveraging events as a core way to deepen relationships, surface innovative ideas, and amplify the firm’s brand presence. This senior leadership role is responsible for designing and executing a diverse portfolio of high-impact experiences, ranging from intimate, exclusive community dinners to multi-day summits and leadership retreats. The position demands a dynamic individual who can seamlessly transition between strategic visioning and detailed operational execution, recognizing that every event is unique and must meet the highest standards of quality and brand representation.

The Events Partner will work closely with senior executives, general partners, and prominent external figures to create event experiences that reflect the firm’s reputation and foster meaningful connections. The role includes ownership of all operational logistics such as sourcing venues, negotiating with vendors, managing contracts, and overseeing on-site production for both physical and virtual event formats. Additionally, the position requires running event communications campaigns, tracking engagement and registrations, and using data insights to refine strategies and maximize return on investment. The Partner will also collaborate with editorial, communications, and design teams to ensure events are aligned with broader marketing and branding initiatives.

This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with consideration given to candidates in New York City. The position includes an expectation of occasional in-office work and up to 30-40% travel. The anticipated salary range is $221,000 - $258,000, complemented by eligibility for the a16z carry program, discretionary bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401(k), vacation, and sick leave. Candidates should bring a wealth of experience in managing complex, high-profile events and possess the poise, discretion, and influence necessary to work directly with senior leadership and external stakeholders. This is a high-impact role for someone passionate about creating unparalleled experiences at the intersection of technology and culture, ready to contribute to a firm known for excellence, long-term vision, and winning culture.
