Job Description
WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is a well-established family-owned company founded in Utah in 2010. It prides itself on being a majority women-operated industry pioneer specializing in providing valet trash and recycling services to apartment communities across Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. The company aims to create seamless waste management solutions, focusing on convenience, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is known for its dedication to quality service and respect for the communities it serves. The Porters, who play a critical role in the company’s operations, are valued and supported, as WSI believes that taking care of its employees translates directly into the excellent service provided to its clients. As an equal opportunity employer, WSI Trash & Recycling Valet ensures inclusive hiring practices that consider candidates from diverse backgrounds without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
The role of Part-Time Valet Porter in the Orem, Utah area is an excellent opportunity for individuals who prefer short evening shifts that are flexible and easy to manage alongside other commitments. The position offers shifts that last between one and two hours on weeknights, Monday through Friday, with no weekend work required—ideal for students, individuals seeking a second job, retirees, stay-at-home parents, or those in need of supplemental income. With competitive pay ranging from $20 to $25 per hour depending on site requirements, no prior experience is necessary as all training is provided by the company. This role allows workers to operate independently and manage their routes without micromanagement, providing a sense of autonomy and responsibility.
Valet Porters are responsible for walking the assigned apartment community each evening to gather bagged trash, recycling, and cardboard from residents’ doors, transporting the collected materials to designated dumpsters, chutes, or compactors on-site. They separate recyclables, check for contamination, and ensure cleanliness by picking up loose trash around common areas. The use of a mobile app for route check-in, check-out, documenting tasks, uploading photos, and leaving courtesy notices streamlines the process and allows for efficient communication with management. Occasionally, Porter duties may extend to servicing pet waste stations. The job is physically active, involving significant walking, stair climbing, and lifting of materials up to 50 pounds in outdoor conditions, making it suitable for individuals who enjoy an active work environment.
This position requires applicants to be at least 18 years old and hold a valid Utah driver’s license and auto insurance, as well as possessing a smartphone with an active data plan to utilize location services linked to the job’s mobile app. A professional attitude, reliability, and self-motivation are essential traits for success in this role. While a personal open-bed pickup truck is required at select sites to earn the higher pay rate of $25 per hour, many locations do not require this vehicle. WSI Trash & Recycling Valet prides itself on rapid hiring processes, with candidates often able to start within the same week they are hired. This seamless onboarding and training foster a supportive work environment that encourages success for those who commit to the responsibilities of the role.
