Job Description
WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is a distinguished family-owned and majority women-operated company established in Utah in 2010. The company has positioned itself as a pioneer in the valet trash and recycling services industry, catering to apartment communities throughout Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. WSI Trash & Recycling Valet prides itself on its dedicated team of Porters who form the backbone of the company's operations. Recognized for its commitment to quality and customer service, the company prioritizes the well-being and support of its employees, ensuring that those who care for the communities are equally cared for in return. As an equal opportunity employer, WSI embraces diversity and inclusion, extending employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status.
The role of Part-Time Valet Porter with WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is designed to fit conveniently within the lives of busy individuals seeking supplemental income, such as students, caregivers, retirees, or those with a second job. This position offers short evening shifts that run for 1 to 2 hours from Monday through Friday, typically starting around 6:30 or 7:00 PM, and importantly, does not require work on weekends. This schedule is ideal for individuals seeking predictable, consistent, and independent work with competitive pay ranging from $20 to $25 per hour depending on site requirements. Most shifts end by 10 PM, allowing porters to be home early.
In this role, Porters will be responsible for collecting bagged trash, recycling, and cardboard from residents’ doors within their assigned apartment community. They will transport these materials to designated onsite dumpsters, chutes, or compactors, performing necessary separation of recyclables and checking for contamination to ensure proper waste management. Additional responsibilities include cleaning up any loose trash in common areas and occasionally assisting with servicing pet waste stations. Porters interact with a mobile app to check in and out of routes, document their work through photos, and leave courtesy notices when needed. This tech-enabled approach streamlines the process, enabling Porters to work independently at their own pace without micromanagement.
Physically, this job involves extensive walking throughout apartment communities, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds, requiring physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. A valid Utah driver's license, auto insurance, and a smartphone with an active data plan and location services are essential for communication and route management. At selected sites, possession of a personal open-bed pickup truck is required, which comes with a higher pay rate of $25 per hour.
WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is dedicated to hiring reliable, professional, and self-motivated individuals, providing training regardless of prior experience. The company fosters an environment where those who show up and perform their duties can succeed, highlighting the importance of responsibility and dedication. The role offers flexibility, a short duration shift, and a stress-free work environment with no weekend obligations, making it an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking part-time evening employment in Draper, Utah, and surrounding areas.
