This job opportunity is for enthusiastic part-time cashiers and stockers who will play vital roles in maintaining smooth store operations and delivering excellent customer service. The position is part-time, typically involving fewer than 30 hours per week, with a starting wage of $18.50 per hour. Wage increases are structured progressively over five years, reflecting ALDI’s commitment to rewarding employee dedication and growth, with wages reaching up to $20.50 per hour by the fifth year.
As a cashier at ALDI, you will provide friendly and efficient checkout services, utilizing the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately, following cash handling policies, and maintaining smooth transaction flow, including opening additional lanes during peak times. Additionally, cashiers may assist with curbside pickup orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to customers’ vehicles.
Stockers at ALDI are responsible for keeping shelves neatly stocked and organized according to merchandising planograms that maximize sales opportunities. The role requires early arrival times, sometimes as early as 5:00 a.m., to replenish products for the day���s business. Both cashiers and stockers support store management in operational efficiency, safety standards, and overall store presentation, helping to achieve loss prevention goals and maintain a safe and clean shopping environment.
The physical demands of these roles involve pushing, pulling, standing, lifting up to 45 pounds, and occasionally working in cooler or freezer environments. Proficiency with various in-store equipment, including cash registers, floor scrubbers, and pallet jacks, is essential. Job Requirements
- At least 18 years old required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred
Job Qualifications
- Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
- Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc
- Ability to interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and with others
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete assigned tasks to maximize productivity within established timeframes
- Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance
- Ability to meet availability requirements
Job Duties
- Models and fulfills all customer service principles and escalates concerns to store management as necessary
- Assists store management in achieving operational efficiency goals
- Assists store management in achieving total loss goals
- Complies with all established company policies and processes
- Supports store management in providing a safe working environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order
- Maintains store zones standards and merchandising standards at all times
- Adheres to inventory procedures and product handling guidelines
- Performs general cleaning tasks to company standards
- Properly utilizes the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and informs store management of scanning concerns or errors
- Adheres to cash policies and procedures
- Follows the line policy and opens additional check lanes as required to ensure an efficient checkout
- Completes curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers’ vehicles from the staging area
- Stocks shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales
- Stockers must be able to arrive to work as early as 5:00am
