This job posting is for enthusiastic part-time Cashiers and Stockers who will work fewer than 30 hours per week with a starting wage of $18.50 per hour. The wage increases with tenure, offering $19.00 after year 2, $19.50 in years 3 and 4, and $20.50 by year 5. This role is essential in supporting day-to-day store operations, focusing on delivering excellent customer service and maintaining store standards.
Cashiers play a critical role in ensuring a smooth checkout experience for customers. Responsibilities include efficiently scanning and processing purchases, adhering to cash handling policies, and opening additional check lanes as required to reduce wait times. Additionally, cashiers handle curbside pickup orders, accurately retrieving and verifying items to ensure orders are fulfilled correctly and delivered timely to customers’ vehicles.
Stockers help maintain attractive, fully stocked shelves by following merchandising guidelines known as planograms to maximize sales potential. Stockers are expected to work early shifts as early as 5:00 a.m. and assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized store environment. The role requires physical stamina as it involves lifting, carrying, and placing products weighing up to 45 pounds, including working in cooler or freezer sections.
Both roles require employees to support management in operational efficiency, loss prevention, safety, and cleanliness. Job Requirements
- At least 18 years old required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred
Job Qualifications
- Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
- Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc
- Ability to interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and with others
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete assigned tasks to maximize productivity within established timeframes
- Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance
- Ability to meet availability requirements
Job Duties
- Model and fulfill all customer service principles and escalate concerns to store management as necessary
- Assist store management in achieving operational efficiency goals
- Assist store management in achieving total loss goals
- Comply with all established company policies and processes
- Support store management in providing a safe working environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order
- Maintain store zones standards and merchandising standards at all times
- Adhere to inventory procedures and product handling guidelines
- Perform general cleaning tasks to company standards
- Properly utilize the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and inform store management of scanning concerns or errors
- Adhere to cash policies and procedures
- Follow the line policy and open additional check lanes as required to ensure an efficient checkout
- Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers' vehicles from the staging area
- Stock shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales
- Stockers must be able to arrive to work as early as 5:00am
