Job Requirements
- General knowledge at the high school level
- experience as an IU Dining part-time employee for 10 consecutive weeks or comparable experience outside IU dining
- food safety (ServSafe Food Handler) certification within 180 days from date of hire
- knowledge of institutional food preparation equipment operation and maintenance
- knowledge and practice of department standards for personal hygiene, health and safety, and uniform wear
- knowledge of standards described in employee handbooks and department postings
- ability to understand and follow instructions and read and interpret recipes, worksheets, and menus
- strong communication skills

Job Duties
- Assists in the distribution of labor in the dining unit
- trains part-time dining staff
- monitors quality of product and services
- responsible for opening and closing the facility as needed
- works under the direct supervision of the dining unit management team and certified sous chef
- assists in coordinating the placement of part-time staff
- trains entry-level part-time staff in their duties while ensuring proper sanitation and customer service standards
- monitors work performance of part-time staff for quality, accuracy, and completeness
- promotes part-time employee development and growth
- assists with opening and/or closing dining services operation including POS reconciliation and facility security
- assists with weekly and monthly inventory counting
- responds to and resolves customer complaints and concerns
- represents the dining unit management team in absence of general manager or assistant managers
- works alongside front-line staff during short staffing or high-volume periods
