Carpenters Hall is a distinguished dining establishment located within the Carpenter Hotel, a South Austin hotel known for its beautiful setting in an old pecan grove on the edge of Zilker Park. Opened in the fall of 2018, the hotel features 93 rooms each with a private terrace, a pool with a community deck, and the Q Hut pavilion, offering a luxurious yet welcoming environment for guests. The Carpenter Hotel is uniquely positioned for guests to enjoy easy access to Lady Bird Lake and downtown Austin, making it a preferred location for travelers and locals alike. The restaurant, Carpenters Hall, complements this by providing all-day dining options including a Coffee Bar, patio seating, and multiple dining rooms that cater to a variety of tastes. The opportunity at hand is for a Part-Time Server Assistant to join Carpenters Hall’s team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of the restaurant’s dining experience. The Server Assistant supports food service employees by delivering food to tables, cleaning and resetting tables, replenishing supplies such as linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes, and attending to needs behind the bar. An important aspect of this job is serving water, appetizers, and coffee to patrons, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable service experience. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts efficiently, as well as familiarity with Bunkhouse policies. Beyond the daily tasks, the Server Assistant plays a vital role in upholding the company’s culture, values, and reputation, interacting positively with guests, staff, vendors, and partners. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals

Job Qualifications

  • six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
  • must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace

Job Duties

  • adhere to dress code policies during shift
  • perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in order to facilitate customer service
  • ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary
  • maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays
  • ensure sure that beverage and ice dispensers, cabinets, serving areas are stocked
  • replenish supplies of food and equipment at service bars/satellite service stations
  • stock refrigerating units with wines and bottled beer, and replace empty beer keg
  • set tables with clean linens, condiments, and other supplies
  • scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning
  • clean tables, counters, shelves, walls, furniture, and equipment in food service areas and other areas of restaurants, and mop and vacuum floors
  • wash glasses and other serving equipment at bars
  • clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash
  • serve ice water, coffee, and standard appetizers (i.e. bread/butter or chips/salsa) to patrons
  • assist with ensuring guests receive their food in a timely manner
  • ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met
  • maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
  • ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
  • maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
  • keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
  • attend relevant meetings
  • adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction
