Job Description

JW Marriott, part of Marriott International's luxury portfolio, is renowned for its prestigious collection of over 100 beautiful properties located in gateway cities and distinctive resort destinations worldwide. The brand is built on a legacy inspired by its namesake and founder, J. Willard Marriott, emphasizing confidence, innovation, and genuine hospitality. JW Marriott prides itself on creating a work environment that is not only luxury-oriented but also supportive and inclusive for its associates. The company values its employees deeply, believing that happy associates create exceptional guest experiences — a philosophy known as The JW Treatment1.

JW Marriott offers its team members opportunities for continuous training, professional development, recognition, and a holistic approach to well-being. Working here means becoming part of a vibrant community where camaraderie thrives among a diverse group of coworkers. Employees have the chance to pursue their passions in a world-class luxury environment that prioritizes both personal and professional growth.

The Runner position at JW Marriott is a vital role within the Rooms and Guest Services Operations department. This non-management, part-time role is based in Washington, District of Columbia. It offers competitive pay starting at $22.68 per hour, with the opportunity for wage increases after 6 months ($25.47 per hour) and after 1 year ($30.25 per hour). Additionally, eligible employees receive benefits including healthcare, paid leave, life insurance, disability coverage, and wellness benefits.

Runners are essential to maintaining smooth operations across the hotel by delivering timely and efficient support to guests and associates. Unlike a role limited to moving items, Runners contribute to creating memorable and unique guest experiences by ensuring that everything needed is provided promptly and professionally. Whether delivering items directly to guest rooms or assisting other departments such as housekeeping, engineering, banquets, restaurants, and the front office, Runners keep hotel operations fluid and guest satisfaction high.

This position requires individuals to be highly active, on their feet, and moving frequently. Runners must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods, navigate confined or elevated spaces, and carry out physical tasks like lifting and placing objects up to 55 pounds. The role involves reading and verifying information in various formats and taking a hands-on approach to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Critical elements of success include adhering to safety guidelines, following company procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and presenting oneself professionally in appearance and communication.

JW Marriott welcomes candidates with a high school diploma or GED equivalent and does not require prior related work experience or supervisory capabilities. The company fosters an equal opportunity environment where diversity and inclusion are celebrated and discrimination based on any protected basis is prohibited.

This is more than a job; it is a chance to join a global hospitality leader committed to excellence in service and employee satisfaction. At JW Marriott, employees have the chance to develop meaningful careers in a supportive setting while contributing to a living legacy of wonderful hospitality.

Join JW Marriott and leverage this opportunity to be part of a global team, begin your purpose, belong to an amazing community, and become the best version of yourself.
