The role of Event Coordinator at the SEA-TACOMA, WA Michaels store offers an exciting opportunity to be at the center of community engagement through crafting events and birthday parties. This position is essential in delivering a stress-free, fun, and memorable experience for guests of all ages. The Event Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events, especially children's birthday parties and craft classes, ensuring each event is executed flawlessly and to company standards. This involves engaging with clients and party participants, demonstrating craft projects, leading activities like face painting, and managing party enhancements such as goody bags and balloons. Excellent communication skills are vital, as this role requires interaction with clients, team members, and customers both in person and through administrative channels such as emails and phone calls.
Beyond event management, the Event Coordinator supports the overall customer experience by assisting shoppers in locating products, providing exemplary service at checkout, and promoting the store's Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. The role includes operational duties such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, organizing displays, and maintaining store recovery standards to ensure the store environment is welcoming and orderly. This position demands flexibility and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, from creative facilitation to physical tasks such as lifting and restocking. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in event coordination or related field preferred
- Retail or customer service experience required
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and stocking
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings
- Must comply with federal, state, and local employment laws
