Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our amazing team. This is a full-time position that requires dedication, skill, and a passion for culinary arts. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience working in kitchen settings, specifically in food preparation and cooking. The Line Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently cooking various hot food products including meats, fish, vegetables, and soups, as well as preparing and portioning food products prior to cooking. Alongside food preparation, this role involves final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing dishes to meet quality and presentation standards.

The role demands excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel, ensuring a smooth and efficient service period. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods, frequently lift up to 40 pounds, and perform tasks that require reaching and bending. Weekend and holiday availability is also essential for this position as most roles within the restaurant operate during busy service times.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
  • Physical ability to reach, bend, lift up to 40 lbs frequently and stand for long periods of time up to 9 hours
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to follow kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Willingness to adhere to safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
  • Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Assists others in closing the kitchen
