The Leisure Services Department of Athens-Clarke County invites applications for the position of Part-time Program Leader at the Lyndon House Arts Center located at 211 Hoyt Street, Athens, GA. Athens-Clarke County offers a vibrant community and a dedication to cultural enrichment through their Arts Division, which includes the Lyndon House Arts Center. This facility is a valuable community resource that provides arts education, exhibitions, and special events that promote the arts to a wide range of audiences in the community.

This part-time role supports the department's goal to enhance community engagement through arts and recreational programming. It offers a wage of $21.58 per hour and requires a commitment of approximately 24 hours per week, with shifts including evenings, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The position is classified as non-exempt and non-merit, meaning the individual serves at the discretion of the Department Director without traditional merit protections. The role does not include employee benefits but provides enriching work experience in arts administration and community recreation.

The Part-time Program Leader is a vital team member responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and evaluation of a variety of recreational and arts-related programs and special events aimed at all age groups in Athens-Clarke County. The leader will act as a crucial liaison between the exhibitions/education programs and the public, managing outreach activities, creating promotional materials, and supporting registration and front desk services. A significant part of the role involves coordinating volunteer efforts, maintaining program records and inventory, and ensuring smooth daily operations of the facility.

Moreover, the Program Leader is expected to apply skills in marketing, social media content creation, and community engagement, managing communication platforms like social media accounts and e-newsletters to enhance visibility and participation. The role includes responsibilities such as scheduling rentals for the Lyndon House facility, coordinating bookings, and offering support for rental logistics.

Candidates will need to demonstrate competence in vehicle operation with adherence to safety policies, reflecting the need for occasional participant transportation for activities. Applicants should be prepared to work cooperatively within the team, demonstrating professionalism when interacting with the public, handling multiple tasks including event setup, facility upkeep, and administrative duties.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office, and social media scheduling tools is advantageous. Additionally, applicants will ideally contribute to graphic design, publication updates, and outreach calendar management. This role not only requires enthusiasm for arts programming but also an ability to manage community relations effectively, supporting the Leisure Services Department in fulfilling its mission to serve diverse community interests through recreation and cultural activities.
