Job Requirements

  • Good knife skills
  • experience in food handling, culinary and organic foods
  • ability to work a mixture of morning, day or evening shifts including one weekend shift
  • ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs or more
  • reliable transportation
  • ability to work flexible scheduling
  • previous kitchen, deli or restaurant experience
  • willingness and ability to follow health and sanitation procedures
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work within a team

Job Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen, culinary, deli, restaurant, cooking and customer service experience
  • Spanish language skills a plus
  • reliable transportation
  • excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • ability to communicate effectively with customers
  • ability to follow instructions and procedures
  • ability to sell proactively
  • ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department
  • ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness

Job Duties

  • Give every customer immediate and undivided attention
  • ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and salad/hot bars clean and well stocked and properly rotated
  • maintain accurate department signage and pricing
  • prepare salads, dips, soups, sandwiches and more in accordance with recipes
  • follow department procedures to maintain supplies, back stock and coolers and to track product transfers and spoilage
  • assist with sampling program by keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing and by sampling products directly to customers
  • follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices
  • operate and sanitize all Prepared Foods equipment in a safe and proper manner
