Job Description
JASA, a leading nonprofit organization in New York City, is dedicated to serving older adults by providing safe and supportive housing communities that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life. Established as one of NYC's largest and most trusted senior service providers, JASA operates multiple senior housing communities where residents can live comfortably in secure and welcoming environments. Their commitment extends beyond housing, focusing on holistic well-being and community support tailored specifically for older adults. As part of their ongoing efforts to enhance resident experiences and safety, JASA continually seeks dedicated individuals to join their team in various capacities.
We are currently hiring for the role of Part-Time Porter Guard at our Senior Citizen Housing community located in Far Rockaway, NY. This position is vital in supporting the mission of JASA by maintaining a clean, secure, and welcoming living space for older adults. The Part-Time Porter Guard works under the supervision of the Superintendent and assists in ensuring that the building, grounds, and common areas meet high standards of maintenance and safety, creating a comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
The role involves a variety of duties, including routine housekeeping, grounds maintenance, visitor management, and emergency response assistance. The Porter Guard’s responsibilities ensure that the property remains orderly and safe, reinforcing the supportive atmosphere that JASA aims to provide. Employment is part-time with approximately 21.75 hours per week, covering specific shifts: Saturday to Sunday from midnight to 8:00 AM and Monday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This schedule supports consistent coverage during key hours while offering flexibility for the employee.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys a varied workday, is attentive to detail, and is motivated by making a meaningful difference in the lives of senior citizens. This position offers not only hands-on work involving cleaning and building maintenance but also an opportunity to engage with the community in a helpful and respectful manner. You will be a dependable presence that promotes safety, assists with emergency situations, and contributes to the daily operations of the residential community.
Joining JASA means becoming part of a mission-driven team that values respect, teamwork, and service to older adults. You will work alongside the Assistant Superintendent and other property management staff to uphold the standards of the housing community. This role is well-suited for candidates with previous experience in porter services, custodial work, security, or residential building maintenance, who possess strong communication and customer service skills.
In addition to a rewarding job environment, JASA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance options, employee wellness initiatives, retirement plans, generous paid time off, and professional development opportunities. JASA is committed to equal employment opportunity and encourages all qualified candidates to apply, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected status.
If you are looking to make a tangible impact in a nonprofit environment dedicated to older adults, consider applying for the Part-Time Porter Guard position at JASA. This role provides an excellent platform to contribute to a meaningful cause while developing your career in a supportive community-oriented setting.
