Job Description

R1 RCM Inc. is a premier and innovative provider of technology-driven solutions dedicated to transforming the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems, and medical groups across the United States. Known for seamlessly integrating global revenue cycle professionals' expertise with advanced technology, the company employs sophisticated analytics, artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration to revolutionize healthcare operations. As a leading company in its field, R1 RCM prides itself on driving customer success while enhancing patient care quality, embodying a commitment to continuous improvement and community engagement.

Based at Intermountain Orem Community Hospital, the Customer Service Representative role operates primarily on a part-time, PRN (pro re nata or as-needed) basis, answering the critical need for efficient patient registration services. This position embodies the front line of patient interaction, where effective communication and compassion are just as essential as technological proficiency. The pay range for this role spans from $15.00 to $21.10 per hour, with actual compensation dependent on factors such as role specifics, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

In this dynamic role, Customer Service Representatives help patients smoothly check into the hospital by accurately collecting personal and insurance information, facilitated through the use of multiple technological platforms. The environment can be fast-paced, requiring adept multitasking, typing, and phone-answering skills. While healthcare experience is not mandatory, a willingness to engage with patients possibly experiencing illness or distress is crucial. Representatives are trained comprehensively to navigate the complexities of various health plans and coverage nuances as they pertain to patient registration. This setting also demands adaptability to interruptions from clinical staff focused on emergent patient care, emphasizing a resilient and responsive work attitude.

Moreover, the role is not purely transactional. Instead, it requires empathetic listening to alleviate patient anxieties, demonstrate patience, and build trust during often stressful admission experiences. The Customer Service Representative becomes a vital human connection, providing reassurance alongside administrative efficiency. The onset of this position often marks the beginning of a rewarding career trajectory within healthcare, supported by a culture committed to career development and continuous learning.

Candidates are expected to maintain all vaccinations up to date, successfully pass drug screenings and background checks, and embrace the diversity and inclusion principles upheld by R1 RCM Inc. The company’s employment policies reflect a strong dedication to equal opportunity, respectful treatment, and a harassment-free workplace environment. Notably, R1 provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities throughout the application and employment process.

Complementing the role’s responsibilities is the rewarding opportunity to be part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and social impact. Employees enjoy a competitive benefits package while contributing to meaningful work that ultimately benefits communities on a local and global scale. The ongoing evolution of healthcare systems offers endless opportunities to expand knowledge, develop new skills, and advance professionally within R1 RCM’s supportive framework.
