Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates more than 1,300 stores across 49 states in the U.S. and Canada, as well as e-commerce platforms micheals.com and micheals.ca. They cater to arts and crafts enthusiasts by offering an extensive selection of products ranging from arts and crafts supplies to custom framing merchandise through their subsidiary, Artistree. Michaels seeks to provide an inspiring, customer-focused retail environment where creativity flourishes and events build lasting memories. They are recognized as the premier destination for all things creative, with a mission centered on helping people celebrate creativity and self-expression.
The role of Event Coordinator at the Michaels Orange City, FL store focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events such as children's birthday parties and craft classes within the store. This position is designed to create an environment where guests of all ages—from children to seniors—can enjoy a stress-free, joyful, and interactive crafting experience. The Event Coordinator is responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously while ensuring that each event adheres to company standards for fun, safety, and customer satisfaction.
This position also requires the candidate to deliver exceptional customer service by actively assisting customers in finding products and providing solutions to enhance their shopping experience. Candidates will perform operational duties including merchandise stocking, truck unload, maintaining store recovery standards, and support for shrink and safety programs. By performing both event coordination and general store duties, the Event Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining a vibrant store atmosphere that aligns with the Michaels brand promises.
A successful Event Coordinator at Michaels will demonstrate a balance of creativity, organizational skills, and strong interpersonal abilities. They will be tasked with administrative activities such as handling emails, phone communication, event planning adjustments, and maintaining cleanliness and safety during events. Flexibility is key, including the ability to handle last-minute changes and provide backup plans to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction.
Physical demands include standing for long durations, frequent movement throughout the store, and safely handling merchandise and equipment. The work environment is a public retail space with climate-controlled areas and occasional outdoor assignments. Hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings, reflecting the retail industry's dynamic nature.
Michaels values inclusivity, providing accommodations for individuals with disabilities, and welcoming all team members and customers to innovate and thrive together. They offer robust benefits for both full-time and part-time team members, emphasizing wellbeing with comprehensive health insurance plans (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, employee discounts, and more. Michaels is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer fostering a diverse and respectful workplace where creativity meets community.
