Job Description

The City of Republic, Missouri, is seeking a part-time Community Center Monitor to join its Parks & Recreation Department. Located in a vibrant and growing community, the Parks & Recreation Department is devoted to enhancing the quality of life for residents by offering diverse recreational programs, community events, and well-maintained facilities. The department operates out of the Republic Community Center, situated at 711 E Miller Rd, Republic, MO, which serves as a hub for community interaction and engagement. This position is a non-exempt, part-time role that offers approximately 15-20 hours per week and pays $15.75 hourly. The schedule includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends, providing flexibility for individuals seeking part-time employment with varied hours.

As the Community Center Monitor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Republic Community Center during regular business hours. The Monitor acts as the main receptionist for the Parks & Recreation Department, serving as the first point of contact for visitors, guests, and program participants. This position requires someone who can maintain a professional and welcoming environment, manage registrations and payments for programs and special events, and monitor the facility's safety and cleanliness. You will be responsible for greeting incoming guests, answering inquiries about current and upcoming programs and events, and ensuring compliance with facility policies by regularly patrolling the community center and activities building.

The role also involves setting up community rooms and gymnasiums for rentals, assisting full-time staff with various operational tasks as needed, and reporting any maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate division. This position demands strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to handle high volumes of public contact with professionalism and courtesy. It requires a person who can effectively manage time, make timely decisions under pressure, and maintain composure in stressful situations.

Candidates must be at least 16 years old and possess a Missouri State Driver's License. CPR and First Aid certification through the American Red Cross is required, or the candidate must obtain certification upon employment. Physical demands include the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, physical dexterity to use computers and office equipment, and the capacity to lift approximately 60 pounds. The work environment may include exposure to various weather conditions, dust, chemicals, and confined spaces.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Answer incoming calls to the Parks & Recreation Department
  • act as the main receptionist to the Republic Community Center
  • manage program and special event registrations and payments
  • monitor all activity in the Community Center and Activities Building by regular walkthroughs
  • enforce facility rules
  • clean areas of the Community Center as needed
  • report major maintenance problems promptly
  • prepare community rooms and gymnasiums for rentals
  • assist with equipment and rental setup
  • perform various tasks as assigned by full-time Parks & Recreation staff
