Job Description

Life Ki-do Martial Arts & Personal Development is a purpose-driven dojo located in Austin, TX (Westlake) dedicated to fostering calm, confidence, kindness, and strength in individuals from the inside out. This community-focused organization uses martial arts, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence to help children, teens, and adults improve not just their physical abilities, but also their emotional and mental well-being. Life Ki-do emphasizes the development of a positive, welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to thrive and grow both personally and socially. They believe in creating a space where families feel supported and individuals of all ages can build their character, self-esteem, and life skills through a unique blend of traditional martial arts training and modern personal development techniques.

The role being offered is a part-time position, averaging 18 to 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that includes weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings into early afternoons. This position is geared towards individuals who have a passion for engaging with families and children, enjoy creating positive first impressions, and want to be part of a supportive and mission-driven team. Compensation ranges from $16 to $18 per hour depending on the applicant's experience and qualifications, and the position includes paid training. Additionally, employees receive a free membership to any Life Ki-do Adult Martial Arts or Tai Chi programs which helps promote health and wellness as part of their employment benefits.

As a member of the Life Ki-do team, you will be a crucial part of the welcoming and operational side of the dojo. Your responsibilities will include greeting families and students warmly to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere, assisting prospective members with inquiries both in person and via phone, text, and email, and managing administrative duties such as attendance tracking, membership management, and sales through their CRM system called Spark. Keeping the inventory stocked and the dojo clean and organized will also be vital to maintaining the professional and inviting environment that Life Ki-do prides itself on.

Moreover, this position offers opportunities for growth and involvement beyond administrative tasks. Employees will receive training to assist instructors during larger group classes by helping with drills, student organization, and class management when necessary, fostering a deeper connection to the martial arts and personal development work being done. This thoughtful integration of community engagement, operational responsibility, and personal growth makes this role ideal for someone looking for a meaningful, part-time job that combines customer service with education, recreation, and wellness. The role's balance of consistency, skill development, and community impact provides a rewarding experience as part of a mission-driven organization committed to making a difference in Austin's local community.
