Job Requirements
- Knowledge of English and local language
- Ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to communicate with all managers, supervisors, and associates
- Ability to handle conflict situations professionally
- Be well groomed and conform to the hotel’s dress code
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Ability to visually check work, work area, and hotel space
- Minimum lifting of 30 pounds
- Adherence to safety policies and immediate reporting of accidents
- Ability to work varying shifts including AM and PM
- Availability to attend meetings on or off duty
- Flexibility to work varying hours as business demands
- Punctual and consistent attendance
- Willingness to cross-train and assist in multiple kitchen stations
Job Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or degree preferred
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or similar environment preferred
- Ability to follow recipes and food preparation standards
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Strong communication skills in English and local language
- Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a team
- Capable of handling conflict professionally
- Well groomed and able to conform to dress code
- Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift weights up to 30 pounds
- Commitment to safety policies and procedures
Job Duties
- Work as directed on station of assignment under appropriate supervision
- Set-up station properly and on time for each service period
- Make sure all food is prepared by recipes designated by supervisor
- Ensure food quality and quantity is correct
- Send food to correct area on time
- Notify supervisor of any problems or complaints
- Work in another area when needed and take part in cross-training
- Assist in same day prep and advance prep for other stations
- Attend kitchen meetings on or off duty
- Follow clean as you go policy and keep work area clean
- Do not leave kitchen without supervisor's approval
- Cover, date, label, and initial all food items for storage
- Rotate foods properly (oldest first)
- Clean oven tops, work areas, and reach-in boxes after service
- Perform stooping, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds as required
- Take two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch or dinner break
- Report sickness to supervisor immediately
- Follow production charts closely
- Fill out daily cleaning charts
- Promote accident prevention and safe work conditions
- Adhere to all kitchen regulations
- Punch time cards in and out
- Obtain manager approval for overtime and work as business demands
